The Satellite Shrine

Exhibition design and production, Nationwide tour 1996 – 2001

“Temple State” was an artist collective that gained a reputation for highly skilled crafts people working in multi-media installations which theatrically presented fine art. A team of visual artists and theater technicians worked on a collaborative installation entitled “Satellite Shrine”. The participants were given a strict brief and sometimes a realized design inspired by Tantric yoga. The installation layout and how individual pieces went together was based on the iconography of the seven “Charkas”. The brief was to create concentric or circular artworks that could be displayed in different configurations and adapted to the characteristics of each venue visited. The installation toured Australia to major cites, regional towns and alternative spaces.
