The Hand of Glass

Canberra Festival Australia, Hong Kong Arts Festival China, Glastonbury Festival England, 1997 – 2000

The installation was originally commissioned by the Canberra Festival as a public artwork for the civic square fountain, and was then exhibited at the Hong Kong Arts Festival as part of  the “Hand Over” celebrations and then at the Glastonbury Music Festival and the Circus 2000 Festival in England. The concept of a hand with two thumbs symbolises a future evolution. At night this ghostly transparent hand seems to come alive with a haunting super natural power, radiating laser animation from the palm as if trying to communicate by drawing esoteric symbols into the air.
